i've got too much tape machine, and the 280b is the one to go.
i got this as part of a bundle in January, and I've only used it a few times. works and sounds fantastic! transformer inputs and outputs (the 280b always only had output transformers - I added the steel Edcor's on the front - sounds nice and clean!)
heads were relapped by JRF before I recieved it - and the heads look to be in great, great shape.
varispeed works, electronics and transport don't have any quirks.
15/30ips, standard NAB EQ
comes with an extra electronics card pair! one channel seems to not be working in the 'spare', but there's extra VU meters, pots, knobs, transformers, etc etc.
i've just calibrated it with an MRL and did a much-needed alnignment, so things sound great.
*includes full instructions/schematic/maintenance manual in original binder!*
$450 - will also consider possible trades for mics, components, or towards an MC-77

i'll stand by this machine working and recording fantastically for a month after you get it, too! consider it 'tech and guarantee included' -
pickup only in northern chicago.
machine weighs about 60 lbs?
