WTB: PM1000 power supply

Post by LeedyGuy » Sun May 02, 2010 1:37 pm

So I have this PM1000 box that is two racked up talkback channels. I love it.

Well my basement flooded and the laptop style power supply got killed and they don't make that one anymore (of course). I am sure the box works because someone else has the same one and lent me their PS and it works perfectly.

I got this

but it doesn't work. It makes the power light pulsate. Haven't tried to pass signal, but I'm sure it shouldn't be doing that with the light pulsing.

ANYWAY I need some help. Who has a PS that is tried and true?

Yeah I remember when I built my boxes I had a hard time finding a power supply. I ended up building the fivefishstudios supply and it works great. A little expensive, but I use it to power 4 channels so in the end it's well worth it.

You can also roll your own for a lot less if you are willing to do a little homework. As you can see from Owl's, it's not that complicated, but you want a transformer-based power supply, not a switching supply like you purchased.

I think there is a voltage doubler involved to get a LM317 up above 37v.
