Feeler: Chameleon Labs TS-1 Pair

Post by metanoiastudios » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:53 pm

Thinking about selling my pair of TS-1s. Both are in EXCELLENT condition, and have never left my studio. They come with 2 omni capsules, and one of them has a cardioid capsule as well.

Asking $650. Thanks!

I'm guessing these are the MK I version, eh? How come you're missing a cardioid cap? I'm looking for a pair of these, but I'm specifically looking for cardioid caps and I'm not certain if they can be bought separately. Front End Audio doesn't appear to sell them separately. The eBay guy is selling MK I versions, hence the lower price.

What's the difference in the versions?

Looks like the MKII has a different power supply and accepts or comes with a LDC capsule.

I think either the MK I or MK II should take the LDC cap. The difference is a redesigned power supply. I don't know what sort of difference it makes to the sound or what prompted them to redesign it. I just saw that they're giving away the LDC cap for a limited time with a MK II purchase, so I think I'll have to go that route. The LDC is usually $250.

That's correct, as far as I've been able to find out. I would assume that the sonic difference provided by the new power supply would be on the subtle side. The new MKIIs are a great deal, actually...may have to lower my asking price again. I may just keep them since the resale value will be lower than what I paid for them.

What happened to the cardioid capsule? I'm stupid, and I lost it 8)
