FS: Yamaha CS-5 synth - $325

Post by Scodiddly » Wed May 30, 2012 7:23 pm

Yamaha CS-5 synth, vintage 1980 or so. Analog, single oscillator, monophonic... but very well thought out, makes a bunch of neat noises. Especially great for bass synth parts. Super stable tuning, too - leave it to Yamaha to figure that out.

Got this unit from a co-worker when he was moving away, it actually had a mouse nest made of recording tape inside! I've cleaned it up, replaced all the wet caps (electrolytics and tantalums), cleaned up the key contacts, cleaned all the pots. It's not showroom new but it looks pretty decent for a 30 year old classic synth. Two of the treble keys had to be repaired, one of them (highest A) sits just a little higher than the rest of the keys as a result. Plays fine, though.

Looking to get $450 USD plus shipping - located in Chicago suburbs.

Comes with photocopies of user manual and service manual.

The surfaces are a little worn and ugly, but really this beast is in great mechanical shape. No dents, no broken plastic (aside from the two keys I repaired), no loose or stripped screws. Keybed is still plenty good. Proper 3-prong power cable with good grounding.

Bump and a price drop. Going Zeno's Paradox pricing rules here - don't wait forever, it isn't going to get a whole lot cheaper.

Time for a bump, and yes a price drop. Looks like it'll cost about $45-50 to ship most places.

Let's say $375 plus shipping.

Hey, this little guy is still sitting needing a home! How about $350 plus shipping?

Remember, this price is for a very recently recapped unit in great shape!

Think this might be the final price drop, after which I'll just hang onto this unit. $325 plus shipping.

This is a great price for this synth. If I didn't have too many little mono synths, I would get this in a heartbeat.
