FS: MCM 50-7774 2-channel DAC
This is the famous $79 (now $99) converter recommended by Jim Williams a few years ago. Same as the Beresford TC-7510, just different labeling. The PCB inside even says TC-7510.

This has been modded with all the commonly recommended mods (new output opamp, upgraded capacitors, etc.) It was my main monitoring DAC for a few years, but my new interface doesn't have a TOSLINK or SPDIF output, so I can't use it anymore.
I'm including a small external box with a passive constant-output-impedance stepped stereo attenuator using 1% metal film resistors, as well as a latching mute switch. RCA outputs on the back of the box to feed your monitors. This little box alone cost about $40 in parts.
You won't find a better sounding 2-channel DAC for this price.
$70 shipped in the US.

I'm actually interested in this beast. I have a spdif output that I've never used and I'm looking for a new DAC for monitoring. Just trying to see how I can incorporate this in my set up.
Can you post a pic of the rear panel. does this beaut have a bnc input so I can slave it off my lynx? or possibly AES?

Here's a shot of the back from the MCM website:

RCA SPDIF and optical TOSLINK inputs.
There's no clock slave input. It slaves off the digital input stream itself. Pretty much plug-and-play.

yeah. I probably could have looked that up.
I don't think that'll jive with my set up. I need bnc or AES to slave it off the Lynx, then use the spdif with an 003 thats hooked to the Adat. I don't want to be stuck using the 003r as the master clock. right now I'm just using the 003r for monitoring and headphones feeding a pair or actives and and adcom with some passives, and that'll have to do for now. all the other monitoring dac's that will work are out of my budget right now.
thanks for additional info.
