Selling an extraordinarily rare API 525b Compressor. SOLD!! Like other members of the API 500 family, it sounds amazing. Like the original 525 it has both compression (2:1) and limiting (20:1) modes. Unlike the original, it has continuously variable release time. (Shorten the decay on a low-frequency instrument like bass to give it a cool distortion. Adjust to taste.) Also unlike the original, its metering can show gain reduction, input or output.
Unlike the original, this unit also encompasses a noise gate. The gate has advanced features, like a hold time control as well as release rate and depth. The original has a fixed de-esser; the 525b's has sweepable frequency choice, depth and threshhold. (Got an upright bass that "clacks" as the strings bottom out? The de-esser can be tuned to the problem frequency and used to minimize that sound.)
This is serial #41, undoubtedly one of the last produced. $1000.
You pay actual shipping, I cover PayPal if we use it. Local pickup in San Francisco is an option as well. Thanks for looking.
