WTB Ramsa 8616, T820 or 8816...FOUND

Post by Paul Dumbell » Sun Feb 16, 2014 10:15 pm

So,
First off, hey there. Im new round here!
Second, Im here for a specific reason.
Im looking to buy a Mixing console. Ive been , against my better judgement ,dealing with craigslist and ebay. My breaking point was a 12 hour round trip drive to pick up a "pristine" wr-8616 with 16 mono inputs with 16 direct outs, only to find that the board only had 2 mono modules and 14 stereo modules, and the faders are FROZEN from being in a sub zero garage for god knows how many years.
Anybody out there have one of these?
Im willing to drive pretty far.
my preference is in this order
8616
t820
8816
minimum of 16 mono inputs, and with the 16 tape return sub modules.
drop a line if you have one, I have a project that needs to be started soon.
Thanks
Paul

I should also add, that even if you are really far away, I have friends all over and could arrange a pick up.

Hey try also looking for an old Ramsa WR-S4416 or WR-S4424. I picked one up locally a year ago and just love it. I can't believe how affordable they are, and the sound is great. They are a smashing bargain for the pre's alone. Not to mention, it's so much more tactile to reach for a knob with your hands than to dig through a computer screen with a mouse.

I see them come up on Craigslist on occasion.

The 16 channel version actually has 4 stereo aux inputs as well, so you actually get 24 channels of analog summing.

Good luck!

Yea, my buddy who has a live sound company has a 4424 for me, but I really am holding out for a 8616. waiting patiently....oh, btw, I am not new to the game here. I just gave away my board and tape machine when I moved from germany to the states. I was running a quite formidable studio for almost 20 years. Starting from scratch on a budget here, but dont want anything to do with a board that doesnt have balanced direct outs, hence my holding out for a 8616. I mix outta the box to tape. Used to use a telefunken m15, but that one aint running at the moment. I dragged it all the way over here, and cant get it running. Its killing me. I picked up a crown 714c at a thrift shop, retro fitting it with 1/2 track stereo heads, and that will be my mixdown catcher until I figger out why my m15 is being a jerk.
