FS: Tac Scorpion analog recording console $1300obo

Post by Lost Cargo » Thu May 08, 2014 8:24 pm

For sale:
One Tac Scorpion (made by Amek) recording console, this version has the 24 mic/line channels,
16 buss, and 16 monitor returns, and two aux returns, giving it 42 inputs at
mixdown. The master module has been professionally modified with a monitor
mono switch (for checking phase coherency) and one channel has the Langley
discrete mic pre mod (very cool, and great sounding!). Also has its original
factory studio stand (a pretty rare accessory). All channels are functioning as
they should (these boards are pretty low maintenance). there are VU meters for the stereo bus and light meters or the multitrack bus's, the VU meters work great, some of the light meters are not working, but brand new replacements are readily available through AML Audio, I never bothered with them since it is just as easy for me to look
over at the meters on the tape machine, so I figure it would be better to let the
new owner decide if its something worth bothering with. Comes with a spare working
channel, original owners manual and the original power supply (that has been fully
rebuilt about two years ago buy a professional tech).
A very cool console with a surprisingly warm and nice sound with a crap load of options
and tons of flexibility in a pretty compact package for a really reasonable price makes
this thing a winner for sure, defiantly hate to see it go, $1300obo Thanks!

Almost forgot; I am acutely aware of the Neve sticker on the meter bridge,
and am completely aware of the fact that Rupert Neve, nor any other ties to
the Neve company had anything in any form to do with this console or any Tac
console......However the console was graced with this decal by the previous
owner and I neglected to remove it do to the fact that I happened to find it
one of the more absurdly hilarious things id seen in a while, and never failed
to provide me with a bit of a laugh. Recently a guy came to the studio, was
making casual small talk for about 10min, turned, glanced over, saw the words
"Neve" stopped mid sentence, came down with a very shocking look in his
eye, then blurted out "holy shit its a real Neve! can I touch it?" So yeah,
people be a little weird about these things, so just a heads up!

Yes, this console was not designed by Neve.
He did their flagship 9098 series.
Which are absolutely awesome.

That said, I have made a few albums on these TAC/Scorpion consoles, and they sound great, and are easy to use and maintain.

I hope someone picks this one up.

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
