Vintage Neumann U87 (1969) w/shockmount

Post by peterr » Tue Dec 22, 2015 12:13 pm

Selling my vintage U87, dated by Neumann from 1969 with both the rare fiberboard diaphragm capsule ring and the SM69-style capsule mount used in the earliest production of this mic. As you can see in photos, it is in great cosmetic shape for an almost 50-year-old mic and I can confirm it sounds even better. Capsule is in great shape, too, with no need for service.

Here's a photo album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskqvhTsp

This thing sounds like a record every time I've used it on guitar, voice, drums, etc. It's the best 87 I've owned and closest to what Neumann had in mind when they followed up the U67. In fact, it can mimic a 67, IMHO, with the right tube preamp (the REDD with an EF86 tube, for example). So why am I selling? Simply put, I am a singer-songwriter and want to try other options on my voice. Also in need of funds for the holiday season, so it's time to part with the unit.

Asking $2750 for the microphone, shockmount, and cable. Shipping and PayPal included. Open to serious cash/gear offers. Looking forward to passing this great mic to someone new! Lowered price before accepting an eBay offer for much more... $2600 for Tape Op'ers... last call.

Cheers,
Peter
