Alas, I am selling my TEAC A-3440 quarter-inch 4-track. Everything works. I'm selling because the two shops that could service this machine locally have closed! This deck is in really excellent shape—a few dings and scratches on the side panels, but everything is in good functional order. VU meters all light up and work, the deck records and plays back on all channels, FF and REW work great. The sale includes a 10" takeup reel, some repro hubs, and the original RC-70 remote control, which also works great.
I had some caps replaced about five years ago. Last year, one of the channels was cutting in and out, so I pulled all the cards and cleaned all the contacts and they all work great now. I applied Deoxit to all the pots and switches as well.
The heads don't have much wear on them, though, as you can see, they could use a cleaning. You might also want to have this desk aligned, and you may need to use spacers to get everything running on track. I'll throw in a handful of paper spacers I bought online.
I made a YouTube video of the deck playing back through all four channels (channel three is indeed working, it comes in like halfway through!), here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBOtBYjrokM
I'm looking for $475. If you live in Central New York state, you can come pick the deck up or I can bring it to you; otherwise, shipping via FedEx is $100.
Thanks all! For quickest response, email me directly, jrobertlennon at icloud etc etc
