Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
So I went to send a PM to a fellow board member, hit "Send" as usual, and the message went to my Outbox rather than the "Sent Messages" folder. I thought maybe it didn't send for some reason, but I don't see any sort of "resend" button, or really anything at all one can do with a message in the Outbox. So why do I have 2 PMs (at this juncture) in my Outbox when all my other sent messages are in the Sent Messages folder? What does it all mean?

I think it might be if the recipient has their inbox full... it waits until they have space.

Interesting theory. It'd be nice to have confirmation of some sort.

Re: Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
I sent 2. They both went to my Outbox. There was a message after I hit send that said something about the PMs having been "submitted."vvv wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:27 pmWell, send me a PM.winky dinglehoffer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:53 pmInteresting theory. Now if you make a little space in your Inbox we can see if they send automatically.

And the message I sent you has now exited my Outbox, so it would appear the mystery is solved!Nick Sevilla wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:00 pmYes, got it at 3:11 pm my time (CST).winky dinglehoffer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 3:50 pmI responded to your PM. Re: Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
TOMB moderators -
is there any way to increase the inbox size or even automagically prune inboxes that haven't been emptied in years? Most of the time if I try to send anything (and my inbox says 2% full) it just sits in the outbox... meaning the other person's inbox is probably full. I doubt that most of the users even know that their inbox is full and of course nothing ever tells you unless you actually go check, so you don't even know you have messages waiting that will never get to you... quite a conundrum.

Re: Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
i had issues with this a long time ago and it was explained to me this way:
a message once sent goes to the outbox, it only will go to the Sent Messages folder once it is read by the other user. So if it sits in the Outbox it means they haven't read it, or their inbox is full.

Re: Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
I hadn't heard it needs to be read (kind of illogical but it's pretty old software so who knows...). The full inbox was the part I was most concerned with since you don't really know until you try to send something and then I think it finally notifies you... I would guess there are a lot of full inboxes on TOMB... or maybe not. there are only a few of us that inhabit this anymore.markjazzbassist wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 6:31 ami had issues with this a long time ago and it was explained to me this way:

edit: and the answer is here... https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2458131 - ;TLDR
in a nutshell, the messages stays in your outbox until the recipient opens their inbox -- which doesn't necessarily mean they read the message. so it could sit in the outbox for quite awhile (or forever) since the other thing I noticed is that I haven't received a notification email from this board in years (and not really complaining since they would probably end up in spam/junk mail anyway).
