Yamaha PM1000 Mic Pre/EQ Modules Racked

Post by thedug » Tue Jul 20, 2004 10:53 pm

I have just finishing up some PM1000 modules.

These modules are class A and have inductor based eq.
It is possible to mod the eq, so let me know if that is something you are intersted in having done.

Send me an email or give me a call if you are intersted.

Hey Doug,

How do you have these racked? They're certainly longer than 17", so did you cut off the fader? The channel assign / pan? I'm curious and, while I'm not asking you to describe for what you did in any great detail, I'd like to know generally what choices you made.

(thank you)

-Colin

Fader, Echo 1, 2, Buss Assign, Cue, & Phase are gone.
There is a new phase switch added.
Fader is replaced with a conductive plastic pot.

I was hoping to custom build the chassis, based on what folks want.
I might just have to go ahead and send some pictures of what I have.

Also, if anybody is intersted, I could sell the prewired units, and let you build a case for it.

Yeah,

I can get you pictures of the inside, but that is gonna take me a couple of days. I am swamped at the momment, and in order to get decent digital photos I have to take the pictures during the day.

As far as the power supply, I have jumpers that allow me to run it at 240, but it isn't a switch. Just 2 wires to resolder. If you decide you want one, I can easily fix it at 240 for you.

If you're serious about marketing these, then would it be too much to ask to arrive at a set price for the racked modules and post it here? Much better business practice in my opinion. Look at Seventh Circle - it's all laid out pricewise. Just a suggestion...

$400 - 1 Channel
$750 - 2 Channel

Paypal requires a 3% fee.
Shipping is not included.

Stock unit includes phatom, gain switch, trim pot(replaced fader), high, mid low, mid freq switch, and high pass filter switch.

For additional mods (phase, impedance, eq freqs), contact me.

Also, if you are trying to save money I could sell them without the chassis, in case you want to make something out of wood or do your own rack chassis.
$300 1 channel all wired up with no chassis
$500 2 channel all wired up with no chassis

for a novice: what are the benefits of having the pm 1000 pre/EQ's racked instead of just buying the actual board? the benefits other than space? I am considering getting the pm 1000......

Benefits include.

1) more stable power supply.
2) direct out, assuming you want to use it as a preamp and not a mixing console
3) space
4) other mic pre features such as phase, etc.

It basically boils to a space & usage issue. If you want a mic pre specifically, it is nice to have it racked. Also, considering shipping costs!
