WTB: G4 tower or powerbook

Post by MechaGodzilla » Wed Jan 12, 2005 5:05 pm

Hey all,
My trusty iBook has finally bit the dust, and in true TapeOp fashion, I'd rather pick up someone else's leftovers and extras than pay up for a new G5! So, to all those fortunate enough to be upgrading their machines, I would be eternally grateful to buy your old comp. My budget is in the whereabouts of $500 to $700; Let me know what you've got!

Thanks,
Austin

I just got a G4 on ebay for $300. I'm going to upgrade to a new processor for another $300-$400 (www.macsales.com) so you can still get a decent machine for about $600.

And yeah, those mac Minis look really cool.

Yeah, I just don't know about the minis. I mean, I'm a bit of an apple nerd, and I love it when they make neat-cased machines... but I'm super-skeptic on the laptop optical element. I've never had luck with laptop CD burners. And the one RAM slot is a little bit lame. But then again, it's a 1.4 gHz chip for what, $579? Dang! And they do look cool as hell.

http://www.macmall.com has them for a bit cheaper and has a mail in rebate on a keyboard and mouse.

Buy the RAM from a third party though. If you just start adding things at Apple's site it will go way up really quickly!
