If you want to trade for any of this stuff, please let me know. We can work out a trade or sale or patial trade/sale. Check me out on ebay as tablebeast, I have an awesome rating. I am specifically looking for Analog rack mount effects, compressors, limiters, etc. The weirder the better. Also I am looking for a mixer of decent quality with at least 16 channels and bussing. Plus I need tools and books for tape machine care and maintenance plus manuals for the Otari MX5050 BIII-2 and 8 track Otari MX5050. Maybe even remotes for these machines I have some Altec solid state stuff. A lot in fact. I really love this stuff,
too. The 1592B mixer is my favorite. Right now I have...

1. A 1599A mixer expander *** SOLD

2. I also have two Altec 1592B 5 channel mixers each with 5 1588B mic pre
plug-in modules. This one is great. Everyone drools over the 1567A's, but
this is the solid state evolution of that design, very cool. I use them
with multiple mics mixed to one output for guitar cabs, you can also
install the individual outs like the expander. These two both have broken
mounts for the huge filter caps, but still work. Probably needs some love
from a tech. Worth about $60 each w/o plug-ins

3. I have 2 Altec 1607A 5 channel mixer/ 100 watt power amp. One of these
works. The other doesn't work. Its more of a parts unit. Both for $80 w/o plug-ins

4. The 1588B plug-ins are about $15 each. The plug-in is most of the
preamp actually, the transformer and pre circuit are all inside it. They
sound beautiful and have a unique crunch when you drive them. The Altec
are built like modern $2000 a peice gear, serious stuff. I have a ton of
it and this is just the extra atuff I have to restore and use for parts.

5. Two Joemeek (all-black originals from 1999) JM47 mics. Not the newer
silver model mind you, these are the real deal black suckers! These things
are incredible. Beats mics costing three times as much. Match it with a
tube pre and the sound will really surprise you, especially the high end,
its so smooth. One has a little dent on it, but both are in absolute 100%
perfect working order. Each comes with a shock mount and a carrying case.
I'd say they are $150 each but worth a whole lot more.

6. Sennheiser E609S Mic. Again, this is the S model, much better than the
previous iteration. Great guitar and bass cab mic, solid, based on the old
409 models. Perfect shape, comes with bag. Worth $75

7. Marantz 2238B hi-fi reciever. I used it as my 'home hi-fi' monitors for
mix testing years ago. Its been sitting for a while, but works great.
Little scratchy in the pots but once you set it it runs like a dream. It
has a beautiful sound. Worth $100 in its shape.

8. Altec 1650A 31 band EQ with high and low shelf and cut. Real nice
sound, but from security late is missing. Rest of case is decent. Worth
about $60.

In any case, let me know what if any of this stuff
you like and we can work out a deal.

Hi,

I might be interested in the 1592b. So you're saying it comes with all five plug in modules or I'm buying those at $15 each?

Also, I can replace caps and I'm pretty sure I can replace one of those mounts for the big caps, if I can find the the part, but as far as troubleshooting via a schematic, i'm pretty clueless, so if you sold one of these to me I might be asking you a few questions about it.

Anyway, let me know if you still have either of the 1592b's or the 1607A units, which I might also be interested in. I don't know how soon you need a mixer but I do have a 16 channel Tascam board that's in very excellent condition. It's the M316 I think. Or maybe 312? It has 16 channels and bussing though.
I'm looking to sell it maybe in another month or two so that may be too late for you but let me know about the Altec stuff.

Thanks,

Jon
