Re: wtb: ampeg V4-b head
i got a v2 im lookin to maybe get rid of sooon...
but its no v-4b -- its a good amp to record bass with (god bless that midrange shift switch) -- but live -- not enough clean headroom to get a good volume. or at least make that pantleg shake.

moog- if you decide to sell it, drop me a line, dave@glidoenfade.com. That might be an easy fix to this problem. what kind of power tubes does it use?

Hey Dave....I've got a V-4 and a VT-40, which is the 4x10 combo version of the V-2 and lemme tell you, it's enough for a recording bass rig. It's rated a very conservitive 60 watts. I absoulutely love all my ampeg gear for studio work. It always has "that bite and growl" without being overly distorted like a Marshall can get. Hey, I love a Marshall live, but gimme an ampeg in the studio.

The only true great mic on this planet is the Shure SM-57. It is the most consistant in not totally sucking of anything ever built. All other mics are "application dependant".

I've got a V4-B head that I'm not using much. It's been retubed and gone through in the last few years, but I live in Oregon. It's pretty nice, weighs a ton and is missing the 'Ampeg' logo off of the front. If you're still interested make me an offer.

Re: wtb: ampeg V4-b head
Dunno if you found one yet, just wanted to share a little bit o' knowledge with you...
The V-4 and the V-4B are almost identical circuits, less the reverb unit. I play bass through a guitar V-4, and it sounds great.
Just saying, if you find a V-4, go for it, just lock the reverb.
