Title says it all. Has anyone posted here and got a client who found you through the forum?
Or is this more of just a show-off area?

Im sure that people have gotten clients through this forum, in fact I ve read some threads here where people have specifically said that they've gotten clients through this forum. Im sure some haven't. Why do you ask? Just post up your studio and find out... after all, it's free.

It's kind of tough, I mean if I wanted to hire an engineer I would hire myself. And I think a lot of the board is DIYers so I wish you the best of luck.
One time someone even approached me telling me they were super fast with the RADAR II, like I don't even know my own gear.

That was me and it was after you solicited me to bring a project to your studio.Walnut Studios wrote:One time someone even approached me telling me they were super fast with the RADAR II, like I don't even know my own gear.

It's not like I was asking for an engineer though. I don't remember the project. Refresh my memory.
Sorry, Chris.
We should have a RADAR race!

Here's the thread:

I wouldn't technically say I approached you. It was pretty funny, though.
I was really bummed because around that time, I did some work with a band from out of town who were doing a DVD documentary and they got some footage of me mixing. They were going to speed up the footage and have it showing in fast-motion while they were talking about working on their album with me. I tried desperately to get hold of the footage to post (with me working all sped-up) as a joke, but I couldn't get the guys to send it to me. Bummer.

I probably get 50% of my "word of mouth" clients from several various forums. Can't recall particularly if I got any that mentioned TapeOp specifically...

I've gotten a few clients in because of it. I love the forums here and everyone respects one another (generally) so I'm pretty excited when someone calls us from seeing our posts here.
