Get this setting:
Lake Tahoe. Studio set up in what used to be Donna Summer's old ski chalet by Steve Thompson of the Club House. View out the doorwall from the end of the console was of the Lake. Every night capped by a spectacular sunset. 80 input SSL J-series console, tons of rented gear from Design Fx and others. 3 analog 24-tracks, Studer A-827, Studer A-80 MkIII and a Studer A-80 MkIV for 72-tracks of Whitesnake. A slew time for 3 machine lock was around 17 seconds! Working with Mike Shipley mixing at 6000ft in elevation. The discussion ensued, does a mix need more bottom end at altitude to play back properly for A&R people at sea level? David Coverdale, a great human being. Still avidly listening to and devouring new music. Discussions at lunch with him about how he taught Roger Daltry how to swing a mic by it's cable- tongue in cheek of course! Hilarious.

Re: www.thirdmonkrecords.com/discography.html
damn, thats a good story. How ironic is it that david coverdale gets that kind of budget to make records? Or used to at least... I just want the luxury of smashing just one TV set per record, let alone a ski chalet...
damn.
