Tucson Production/Recording Masterclass

Post by happybeat » Mon May 03, 2004 2:46 pm

One of the U.K.'s leading record producers will visit Tucson for a recording masterclass, hosted by Michael Wozniak's Nova Music Productions, on May 22.

British producer Fran Ashcroft's long list of credits include Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz), Lords of Acid, Abbey Road Studios,Trident Studios, and many major and independent labels worldwide (full listing at http://happybeat.xrs.net). He's currently slated for the production slot on the next album from Mel C (Spice Girls), and noted for his skills in bringing radical new ideas and direction to his projects.

In addition to production, he mentors aspiring musicians, engineers and producers in university and college programs throughout the UK, and believes the advent of home recording offers a true alternative to the corporate music world, and a democratization of the once exclusive recording process.

The intensive one day masterclass promises a startlingly new perspective on recording, music production techniques, and the music industry, including:

" What a producer really does
" Pre production, performance, tracking, overdubs, mixing, mastering
" Successful home recording
" The "demo" myth exposed
" Making a living in the music industry
" World class input and guidance

Participants are encouraged to bring their own work for an in-depth listening session, which will offer one-on-one advice and assistance.

Nova Music Productions are well known in the Tucson area for their low cost music education and training courses, in association with Pima Community College.
