If it doesn't sound cool to you, don't take it. At least the guy's being up front with his requirements. I do think it's funny that the guy requires trouble shooting of a 192-point patchbay. I hope that's a misprint. Most of the places I work in have patchbays upwards of 500 points. And those aren't huge studios.

what is 'pro tools calibration' anyway? this guy isn't looking for an intern, he's looking for pretty skilled unpaid(?) labor.

that's a really great thread in general...i haven't been over to RO in along while...

i have to say i love the fact that people in the industry are looking and talking about the bottom rung with passion and respect.

i will do anything (and have done a lot) for free for a while but it really should come with a living wage once you get into actual work that supports someone's business.

this macho 'you can't hack it' maybe can be applied to some, but asking for a little respect researching a job and compensation in supporting someone's business isn't uncalled for.

advertising for position with a "no whiners" "we're the marine core' is just a bad attitude left over from the 80's. like, no shit you don't want a whiner on board and you work 20 hours a day. take care of that in the interview.

the places i've worked who have paid me or given me a rate where i could make money on top treated me with much respect. if someone treats you like this on the way in - think how you may be treated while there or, worse, on the way out. obviously not a blanket statement...i dig some of the 'old guard' and would shine boots for an hour for the right view for 10 minutes...

RO sucks ass. Did people see how they pulled "tech talk" from the roster? Most popular forum by an exponential degree. Reason: Certain members of the group were archiving information that they created. The core people at RO never contributed or frequented their most popular forum so what did they care?

See "tech talk" reincarnated at http://www.prodigy-pro.com/forum in "The Lab"

Pretty much. I'd be afraid to take the position. Shit, if i sneezed during tracking I'd probably get my ass kicked.

Wow a lot of ego for not a lot when you look at the website which is linked. It is pretty surprising how much "philosophy" is going on as opposed to presenting a professional service and there is no mention of any other equipment in the studio besides a board formerly owned by Joni Mitchell. Anyone who answers that ad is volunteering for abuse.

Has anyone sussed it out. I would be interested to hear from someone who has talked to the ad-poster.
