Hey everyone -
We did these songs with 2 shure SM57's, an AT 3035, and a roland 8 track. Any opinions and / or suggestions would be great.
"Weapons On Weekends" 3.5 MB MP3
"We Fail Better (Demo)" 3.28 MB MP3
That's delayed rhodes at the beginning and end of 'Weapons on Weekends,' and the vocal effect is a cheap dano tremolo - we did those as punches into a digital 8track (recording onto 250 MB zip disk), so there was one of us singing, one operating the recording / stopping, and one hitting the tremolo and controlling the rate/depth. The bass was straight into the roland 8 track from the line out of the head on both songs.
cheers,
ak

review of WOW:
Tasty
I like the urgency of the song. The tremelo is gimicky but it works well with the song and adds a nice extra sparkle. I agree with Fear Of Texas above that the backing vocals are noticeably good, they add a lot. Nice tight playing, nice attention to detail, nice mix.
review of WFB:
Not as good as WOW, but it's still a nice tight song. I like the instrumental breaks. Another good mix.

Both songs (especially WOW) are great! You did a great job with the mixes- something most basement demos blow. The low end is a little thin, a consequence of recording the bass direct, I suppose. Of course, I'm a sucker for that huge bass sound, so you can forget what I just wrote.
Great job, keep 'em rolling in.
