Sounds really excellent recording-wise. Performances area little shaky from time to time, but generally really good.

How did you track these? Close mic'd? One room mic? were the solos overdubbed? My only criticism is that they seem to be laid on top of the rest of the mix. I have been contemplating the 7th circle n72 myself. Did you build yours or have them build 'em.

Anyway, like I said, the recordings sound great. Clear and true to the instrumentation. Good job.

This was a close-miked multitrack recording. Everything was overdubbed. Yeah, I know about some of the timing issues, but since this was a demo recording it was decided not to fix too many things in order to portray an accurate band image. A click track should have been used to avoid this...oh well.

I had the first N72 assembled so I could use that for comparison while building the 2nd N72. I am absolutely confident that these are the best preamp deal out there considering the sound quality/vs price!

My latest "best purchase decision" has been some Peluso 22 47 mics (Neumann U47 clones). They sound unbelievable through the N72 pres!

Out of curiousity - where did you get your Peluso 22 47's from and how long have you had them? Do you record bands pretty often? I'd like to hear some of your Peluso tracks! I have used the Peluso 47 only so far on vocals - guitar - and for room micing drums. Superb results. John keeps saying he is going to release a cd with a lot of demonstrations but it is taking a while and a half.

Cheers~

I got both Peluso mics directly from John. I've had 1 for about 2 weeks..the other for 1 week.

I've only experimented with voice and some intruments on my own so far, but i will use them for a demo recording session this evening. Besides vocals, I'll try it on the banjo. The band I'm recording this evening isn't that good, but I'll try to post something up for your ears.

the 22 47 doesn't sound optimal on guitar to my ears, but it sounds fantastic on vocals, upright bass, and mandolin. I'm willing to bet that they sound great as room mics, kick drum, piano, fiddle and guitar/bass cabinets...maybe horns. Actually, pretty much anything that a U47 is typically used for would suit these mics.

I probably did add a touch of compression to tame some transients. Thanks for the compliments!
