Recorded into AudioDesk through a creaky Motu 828mkI.
Mics used: AKG D-112 on vox and electric guitar, crappy Oktava 219 on acoustic guitar and upright bass, SM-57 on the snare.
Pres used were: Meek VC6, and Symetrix SX-202.
Mixed "in-the-box" with some UAD-1 for compression and verb.
"Mastered" using Bias LE, and converted to MP3 with iTunes!

Happy Halloween!

I wish the mp3 quality wasn't so bad!

Everything sounds surprisingly good! To me, the d112 on electric guitar seems an odd choice and having no drum mics but a 57 on snare? It sounds really cool! Did you do some parts live so as to get drum bleed into other mics?

Actually - the guitar cab was miked with a 57 and the D-112. Blended together they sound pretty good. The D112 rounds out the lower end that the 57 doesn't quite pick up. I like to point each mic perpendicular to the grille, with the capsules pointing at the seam between the cone and the dome on the speaker. Seems to get the most balanced sound that way.

We tracked the acoustic guitar and the snare live together -- so yes, there is some bleed of the snare into the ac. guitar mic. Everything else was overdubbed later...

Thanks for listening, and sorry for the hassle to get the hi-quality MP3. Here's a direct link to it (but still forward the postcard if you like it!)
