When you say single note samples, do you mean single note samples that were pitched with a sampler (played on a keyboard)?
Or did you just put them in your computer and hand place them?
Just curious what the process was.

Re: Keen to hear your feedback.
They're single note wavs and i put them in and hand place them, i don't have a sampler. I make several copies of each sample so that i can fade some in and out quicker than others (making them shorter notes) and play around til i have something i like. It's been a lot easier since getting the mac a couple of years ago, i used to do it on a digital eight-track and it was a lot more mathematical, you can't look at the grid cos there isn't one, so you have to go by hours, minutes, seconds, frames, subframes; far more finicky and time-consuming.Slider wrote:When you say single note samples, do you mean single note samples that were pitched with a sampler (played on a keyboard)?

I use around 14 tracks at a time, generally they'll be a track per note, ones i won't use together can share. When these are done i'll make a rough stereo mix and work on the next fourteen, sometimes i go back and mix the roughs again, sometimes they just get used as they stand. I think there were about four or five stereo parts on the strings, generally all with aound fourteen tracks on them. I use VST and i use about five or six songs for most of my stuff. A limit of 16 tracks and the switching between songs it leads to can get really annoying, but i'm a way from being able to upgrade.
That's probably more than you were after, but i enjoyed explaining it.
