The Loneliest Christmas Tree

Post by wesbonifay » Sat Dec 18, 2004 1:48 pm

So my band, Crows Landing, comprised of myself and my friend Joey, decided to make a Christmas song. We wanted it to be very Christmassy, and to tell a fable-type story. So we hope it's the hit of all your X-mas parties:

Here are the lyrics:

High atop snowy Christmas Tree Hill,
Stood a thousand Douglas Fir
Waiting for that day
Happy families will take them away.
Standing so tall in their new homes,
Ornaments spangled and tensil strewn,
Gifts laid at their feet,
Except for one lonely tree.
"I'm standing tall,
My needles are green,
O please take me
Home with you and
Decorate me
So I'm not
the loneliest Christmas tree."

An eight-year-old girl with bright blue eyes
Said "Mommy, please can we get this tree?
It's the one of my dreams.
O Mommy, can we, please?"
Her mom said "Beth, you must be blind.
This has to be the ugliest tree
I've ever seen.
It looks just like Sloth."

Christmas, O Christmas,
The best time of year.
Christmas, O Christmas,
There's joy everywhere.
Christmas, O Christmas,
Alone on a hill.
Christmas, O Christmas,
He's standing there still.

He opened his eyes on Christmas morn,
The only tree for miles around
Because nobody wants
A tree suffering from Bleeding Sap Rot.
So he rubbed his arms together until
Friction caused his twigs to ignite.
O what a sight-
Engulfed in flames, he lit up the night.

I was standing tall,
My needles were green,
But nobody wants
A grotesque tree
So I went up in flames
To numb the pain.
Now all is calm
And all is bright
On this Christmas Day.
