The Demise of MP3.com ...

Post by DryCounty » Sat Dec 27, 2003 12:29 pm

Hi Everyone,
Just curious if anyone had an opinion on the demise of MP3.com and/or an opinion regarding the services offered in it's place (?) by TruSonic. For one, I thoroughly loved having my songs posted on MP3.com -- the ability to pull up a website and play my music from anywhere in the world is downright magical. After the announcment that free services were only allowed three songs I thought that they might be shutting their doors, as indeed they now have.

Anyone know of any other services out there (besides hosting yourself) that allows for a similar structure? Anyone use cost-based services?

Thanks in advance.

They were recommended by another poster on the off-topic channel here. I've only heard a little about them. Anyone have any firsthand experience?

My band The Hitch has a page at iuma. It's ok, but we don't get a ton of traffic there. Another music hosting alternative I have heard of is ogg vorbis. might check that out.
