The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Nashville -- Lower Broadway, to the hony tonks with live c & w that can be pretty good sometimes.
-- the Sweetwater, dive venue
-- Hatch Show Prints for some great handmade old-school gig posters and history that's still in business
-- the new Country Music Hall of Fame, it's actually excellent. There's an exhibit there now about the Nashville R & B scene in the 50s (who'd a thunk it)
-- Exit/In, venue
-- Red Dog, a good bar
-- Mirror, hot restaurant, casual, but 4-star food (disclosure: my uncle owns it)
-- mAmbu, another killer restaurant (I vouch for the owner/chef Anita, I used to rent a room in her house, she's a genius)
-- Great Escape, used books, records, cds
The Nashville Scene is the alt. weekly paper, www.nashvillescene.com for what's in town and when.

also, check the nashville rage for details about shows, exhibits, etc. both that and the scene are great. check the exit/in, the end, the muse, blue sky court, etc. lots of great shows going on this summer. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

not to hijack, but this gives an idea maybe of some better shows in Nashville , maybe --
jca83, did you go to River Stage or whatzit called? I flew into Nashville last weekend but spent the whole time in a state park in Georgia. I was psyched at the number of good bands making stops in Nashville, since I lived there. A lot of them used to skip on down to Atlanta instead. If you went, who'd you see?

styx
the strokes
the foo fighters
johnny lang
shawn colvin
ween (ween and styx played simultaneously on diff stages... on of em, dean or gene, had a styx shirt on)
stereophonics
george clinton and p.funk
fountains of wayne
and tons of other cool stuff. that's like the big festival show that happens every year... last year the flaming lips played... aagh. splendor.
