I got all pissed about this yesterday, and then I wised up to the fact (as people have pointed out above) that it's basically just a publicity stunt intended to make Disney look bad and generate hype for Moore.

And for a moment I felt a little used.

But you know what? Fuck it. If it makes Disney look bad, and if gets a few more butts into the theater to see a film ripping on Bush, I'm all for it. I'm glad, frankly, that at least a few people out there on the left know how to work the system. And I don't even mind that he's mobilizing left wingers (through moveon.org and so forth) to protest. That's what the conservatives do, and the more it happens and the more vocal people are, the more the pendulum will swing back the other direction.
With my Les paul, I know I'm small.

Just as a side tidbit, also, Walt Disney himself was a supporter of right wing politics. He was a big finger pointer in the McCarthey era, and made several Propoganda films, several of which teh Disney Company is releasing on DVD later this month. I love Walt Disney himself as an artist, and he did a lot of incredable things. But it is cirtenly not in his own vision to put out a film by Michael Moore.

it amazes me how disney likes to pass itself off as being so saintly--and how people buy into it! it's just another company out there to make money and they certainly know how to market to it! they get kids to blackmail their parents into seeing movies 10 times, staggering dvd releases, and charging $100 for theme parks. plus, everyone knows about how animators sneak in their own little inside jokes that verge on pornography, etc.

The gentrification of Disney began not long after his death. He was a manic depressive and damn it that's just not Disney! "They" decided to destroy some short cartoons one of which portrays Mickey as a mad scientist chasing Pluto around with an axe trying to chop off his head and replace it with a chicken's.
