What'd you think of Skybar? It's close to my apt. Sorry I missed you, didn't see the post until just now.

Man. I just visited Boston this weekend, but I didn't get in until Saturday. Sorry.

How do you Boston locals like the place? My wife and I are trying to decide which big city we'd like to move to soon.

Any insights? (I have to admit, I'm still leaning toward Chaiacgo.)

Thanks.

Having not lived in either city, but having spent lots of time in Boston, Chicago, and Raleigh, I can say that Boston and Chicago are both great cities, have great food, have lots to do, have decent support of the arts, and are both cold as shit for very long periods of time during the year. Boston has better public transportation, is smaller, is closer to more other big cities, and has a bigger percentage of entertaining subway musicians. Chicago has Aurelio's Pizza in Homewood. I think Boston has a higher cost of living, although I could be wrong about that. Both are relatively close to Canada.

Hope this helps.

Boston is usually third in cost of living, after New York and San Fransisco, but sometimes pops up into second depending on the year. It sucks for that. The winters are incredibly harsh and long. Public transit is cleaner and more frequent (with exceptions), but closes down at 1am. The scene is better than cities 5 times the size, however. Remember, there are 250,000 college students here.

Chicago, I liked a lot, only been there once. I imagine the winters are a bitch there, too, so Chicago and Boston cancel each other out. The scene there sounds cool from all I've read (especially the twang thing and the post rock thing, and of course the blues thing), but Boston would definitely give it a run for its money, and might beat it, depending on what you like. Boston, it's true, is also within a day's drive or less of New York, Providence, Philly, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, DC, Baltimore, and that's off the top of my head, and I don't even own a car.

Don't move here if you don't like people who live to whine about sports teams.
