Got any cool pics on your band website?
Got any cool pics on your band website?
You know, with like, double-guitars and corvettes and barbarians slaying dragons and stuff?
No seriously - I'm looking for some ideas for bio pics, so anybody who wants to share, please do.
Tnx

I like this one:
And this.
DONT take pictures in front of a tagged up brick wall behind your favorite venue.

This guy told our bass player we suck, so we kept taking pictures of him, and now he is on our main page.

No problem -- I think I wasted an entire afternoon laughing out loud at that site a few months ago. I also think that this promo pic is one of the best ever:King Kong Kitchie Kitchie wrote:workshed, thanks! I was trying to think of that site for Michael Alan.

I am serisouly scared that one of our older pictures is on there. We have some bad ones on the site. Never let a friend take your pictures unless they are a proffesional...and even then...workshed wrote:Here is a great place to find out what NOT to do for your promo photos:

You must share. Which one?MichaelAlan wrote:I am serisouly scared that one of our older pictures is on there.
Yeah, this is why I ask - I have an art-school graphic-designer friend taking some pics on Wednesday - BUT he was all like "Oh, we can go to Brooklyn where there's some cool abandoned factories and stuff!"MichaelAlan wrote: Never let a friend take your pictures unless they are a proffesional...and even then...
And I'm thinking "Ooooh, maybe they'll have brick walls there!"

yea, you would be better off going to sears or k-mart in xmas sweaters... actually a friends band did that. that was a pretty sweet session.
i always wanted to go to a ranch and rent horses and get prop swords and take some pictures...
i guess it really depends on what your band is like. if you guys are pretty straight up, singing your "ki-mo kee-mo ki-mo kis" in the holler tree with a straight face... abandoned factories may be cool.
another decent shot is to go to really boring bauhaus building and take VERY serious shots.
like those buildings on park ave... or better yet, find one in the burbs that has "radiant city" landscaping around it. or go to brasilia.
i also like shots when you are in the water. that always seems kinda funny to me.

It was friggin cold that day, our cars were parked about 1/2 mile away and i was sick. I wanted to die.
I say make your pictures interesting. Brick walls are not interesting. I knew a band that took a picture outside of this studio in Pamona called studio 9 where there are all these cement posts, about 3 feet high. They were all in a line jumping over them meter-hop style, but the guy on the end took a post in the balls mid picture. That was thier band picture.
