Beautiful electronica songs
Beautiful electronica songs
What electronica songs do you think are the most beautiful ones, those that really give you goose bumps?
I'm thinking of tracks like the following:
Goldfrapp - Lovely Head, Hairy Trees
William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings
Beloved - The Sun Rising
Bent - Swollen
Regards,
Jezzy

An awful lot of stuff by Bjork, starting with Hyperballad.

Re: Beautiful electronica songs
I think the opening song on the Medulla DVD, enhanced by the visuals of a now slightly ageing and increasingly beautiful Bjork is a wonderful experience.
I also really like World To World (Mike Banks)'s 'Journey of The Dragons', something beautiful about that too, wish i could find it on vinyl.

Dive into you - Hefner
Leonids - Fila Brazilia
Distractions - Zero Seven
Moog Island - Morcheeba
Folding Space - Detroit Escalator Company
Turquoise Hexagon Sun - Boards of Canada
This peice of crap.
I must confess, I've never understood the fascination with Bjork. I find her shrill, pretentious and one dimensional. I'm flipping through some of her music as I write this, trying to make sure that I haven't missed anything; equal parts bombastic and trite. Naturally, that's just what I hear.

Re: Beautiful electronica songs
Madlib's Stormy cover/remix. Although it's not really electronica at all, seeing as how it's using all real instruments. Uhh... Madlib's Papa? That has a drum machine in it. Not really beautiful, just bitchin.
HEY! Who forgot they bag?
Re: Beautiful electronica songs
No shame, i love that record too, but if you havent heard their 1st collaboration "The Dream of Evan and Chan" off the Dntel record then you are truly missing out. That is still the best song...Rick Hunter wrote:yeah hyper balled is a great song.

Also the first track of the Lali Puna - Faking the Books record, and something off of Architecture in Helsinki's Fingers Crossed record. Im sure there are lots more i will think of.

Re: Beautiful electronica songs
the sixth track off of autechre's lp5 (fold4, wrap5) is astounding. "there is no there" - track seven off of the books' newest album, the lemon of pink, is beautiful as well.

Some of my favorites:
Air - Alone in Kyoto (I love the crap out of this song)
Bjork - All is full of Love, New World
Four Tet - My Angel Rocks Back and Forth
Boards of Canada - Dawn Chorus
The Books - MotherLESS bastard
Ms. John Soda - Solid Ground
Dntel - Last Songs
Console - My Dog Eats Beats
And I'll Echo "Evan and Chan," "Four Ton Mantis," "There is no There" and "Crabcraft." All of those are wonderful.

Re: Beautiful electronica songs
Taking it back a year or two, Cocteau Twins, some of the This Mortal Coil and of course Siouxsie's "Cities in Dust" extended single.
Has anyone else heard "Music For Cats"? Its a post Skinny Puppy project for kEVIN cEY. Really inspiring.
I really need to get more Starfish Pool.
