an electronic act.. he makes the awesome, filthy beat and she sings/screams over it. it's fantastic.

this is the record i'm talking about:

i liken it to electronic punk rock.. sort of reminds me of sex pistols with lots of distorted drum machines and things instead of guitars.

At the moment, I'm listening to Four Tet's "Rounds." This album has gotten a lot of play lately.

And I've been jamming some Ms. John Soda, too. The "Solid Ground" song for the Blue Skied N' Clear compilation is just awesome.
I am wangtacular.

i do have it and i do know he did the good deeds on it.

that record's a bit more complex than castaways and cutouts, i like it a lot.

his vocals just blow me away though.

the d's are great live. have you seen them? (have they been near you yet?)

they take a lot more chances on this album. i have such a warm spot in my heart for the first one that it took a while for the new one to grow on me, but now it has.

it's weird to see postings from other places in the country regarding them. they've been just this cool little portland band for years, now they're taking off. it's great.

Anyone else pick up the new modest mouse and then feel slightly compelled to put it back down?

re: modest mouse

i admit it--i don't quite understand the whole modest mouse phenomenon. they're okay, but i've never been knocked out yet by their stuff.

maybe their next album will do that for me. :-)

Well, the new Modest Mouse is what's in the player right now, because I just picked it up. It's decent, but I'm partial to the new Now It's Overhead, which I also just got.

M.M. have gone into a sort of more straight rock thing, I can't really place it. I'm on the fence really. It usually takes me a few times through an album before I can definitely say I like it or not.

re: a bunch of different posts.

the d's are coming to nashville in June. i CANNOT wait to see them. i bet it's great. yes?
i heard about them through pitchfork, which everybody hates and thinks is pretentious, but i love for exactly the same reasons. they put both the decemberists albums on their top 50 of 2003 list, which i think is a great list to get the complete 2003... and they're not total indie snobs. outkast is on there, others... anyway.

and i bought the new modest mouse... let me put it this way. i LOVE the moon and antarctica. i think it's an amazing album. this is not the moon and antarctica.

Amen. I don't not like it, but I have heard better.
