First concert, and latest concert.
Re: First concert, and latest concert.
First (that I paid for, not counting the Joan Baez/John Denver-type stuff I got taken to as a tyke) = Bee Gees 1979 tour at age 9
Last = Spoon or Grandaddy? Oh yeah, that goddamn Neil Young 'Greendale' turd
NEXT = Air at the Riviera on 4/20 OF ALL DATES
I will admit to seeing the first Boston reunion tour ('Amanda' anyone?)

Re: First concert, and latest concert.
(not counting all the classical concerts I was dragged to as a kid...)
First: The Who, with the Clash opening (Shea Stadium '83, 9th grade)
Latest: Metal Urbain at the Hemlock (if you count small clubs)
OR Dead Moon at Bottom of the Hill (if you count larger clubs)
OR Queens of the Stoneage at the Warfield (if you only count theaters or larger)
OR that gawdawful Live 105 thing my bandmates dragged me to around xmastime a couple years ago at the San Jose Arena with Linkin Park, System of a Down, and a bunch of even worse bands, if you only count arenas/stadiums/etc. (but at least it was good to smell that the suburban kids of silicon valley have no problem scoring good weed)

Re: First concert, and latest concert.
First: U2, Zoo TV tour, whenever that was. With my brother and my dad at lovely Veterans Stadium (R.I.P.)
Latest: (big concert) Field Day, which would have sucked except for Radiohead and was the only time I got to see Elliott Smith live.
Club show: Mates of State (cool!)
Oh yeah, and Willie Nelson at the Allentown Fair when I was like 6. We were so far away I could only see his red bandanna. And I was six so I was dying to go get cotton candy.

They were great, if you like synthpunk! Sex Pistols guitars + Hawkwind electronics + Big Black (well, not *quite* that intense) drum machine. I liked 'em enough to see them both nights in SF.trodden wrote:How was Metal Urbain????

First : Offspring, opened for by Unwritten Law. ( Unwritten Law put on an amazing show. To this day the best I've seen.)
Last : Fountains of Wayne. I've been a fan for years, and finally got to see one of there shows. good show, very mellow, but good.
Funny side story about the Offspring show. The first band was a local punk band from the Cities called the Quincy Punks. (CRAP, IMO) I think there were 4 people in the crowd who knew who they were. When they were done no one clapped or anything, they just slinked off stage in shame for wasting everyones time.

Re: First concert, and latest concert.
First: Metallica, Danzig and Suicidal Tendencies. Danzig sang "Last Caress," "Green Hell" and "London Dungeon" with Metallica at the end of their set. It was one of the greatest moments of my life.
Last show that I didn't play: Sixtoo and Kid Koala about a week and a half ago.

That reminds me of my second gig ever: Belly supported by The Cranberries at the Portsmouth Pyramids Centre.jakeao wrote:Funny side story about the Offspring show. Belly rocked and were ace; The Cranberries weren't. No-one clapped for them throughout the set at all.
Last song was a acoustic number, just the guitarist and Dolores the singer. Halfway through the guitarist broke a string and the song stopped. The guitarist went off. Looking extremely sheepish Dolores asked "Do you want me to carry on?". Almost as one the audience said "Yes" in a grumpy voice. Dolores sang the rest of the song acapella in a very wavy voice, and then left the stage to complete silence. Of course she got her own back by releasing album after album of shite. Cow.

Re: First concert, and latest concert.
late seventies, Van Halen's first tour, playing at nearby small auditorium. (Marin Civic) Sold out. Guy comes into p.e. class says he's got an extra ticket he wants to get rid of. I ask how much, knowing they were selling for 12. He wants 20. I don't budge. I've regretted ever since.
(Oh, okay, Def Leppard opening for Pat Travers)
Last was Living Colour at the American Musichall S.F. Fantastic to see Vernon. He and Wimbish had 16 foot semicircles of effect pedals. Great show, got a little soupy sometimes with all the effects on at once.
