The post in your accent thread

Post by bobbydj » Tue Apr 20, 2004 4:50 am

I realised I'm not getting any sense whatsoever of everyone's accent (American people, I mean), so please post some stuff using spellings that bring out your accents. That way I can get the full exoticism of it all, and make-believe I'm in Oaklahoma/Texas/NY/California - I dunno. All those nutty places.

Being a native Virginian, I tend to put "y'all" after a lot of sentences, y'all. I'm told the word finally made it into Webster's Dictionary. 'Bout time.

I's dunno if a can dee this.dyerknowwarramean?like,me accennt is kinda fooked up from livin' int north of England fer ten years,an then movin' all 'ower t plaaace for a few year,'an then back again.
an then movin'te london fer a bit,and then livin' in upstate New York.

and it varies depending on who i'm around.but i don't have an American accent.don't want one,and the wife wouldn't let me develop one either!

Eh?, what di yi want me ti say like min?...you'd hay a hard job keepin up wi awe the banter doon ma wye yi ken.

A lot of the people from my way talk very fast, i'm a little bit more posh nowadays, i can slip back into it easy when i'm back home, but if you are not more articulate around others, there is no fuckn way you would understand it, one of my friends calls it a 'bricks N' sticks rabble'..

Both look pretty close to home!! Jeetyet is sooo Stoke. Although there'd probably no second 't' sound. I know, I know - but that's just how it is. As for chips - well, they're a staple. Must admit I'm surprised anyone in America calls 'em that.
