Stupid People in Blazers Will Not Be Changing the US Constit

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate dealt an election-year defeat Wednesday to a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, rejecting pleas from President Bush and fellow conservatives that the measure was needed to safeguard an institution that has flourished for thousands of years.

The vote was 48-50, 12 short of the 60 needed to keep the measure alive. Six Republicans joined dozens of Democrats in sealing the amendment's fate.

"I would argue that the future of our country hangs in the balance because the future of marriage hangs in the balance," said Sen. Rick Santorum, a leader in the fight to approve the measure. "Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?"

clearly the issue is that the senate can't add man+woman

Santorum: 1. The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes
the byproduct of anal sex. 2. Senator Rick Santorum

That's awesome that it didn't pass, but look how many senators actually voted to approve it. Effing scary!

Anyone got the list of senators that actually voted for this?

Yeah Rick, now that you mention it, homeland security sure DOES begin with protecting the sanctity of marriage...for everyone!!!

You are totally right. That definition of Santorum was created by the guy that does Savage Love. He totally hates Santorum and wanted his name to be associated with something really gross. If you type in Santorum in google, the definition shows up right before Rick Santorums web page. That is so awesome.

I can't remember the exact phrase, but it's something like "complete idiot" or "complete moron" or something ... but you type it in google and the white house is the number one hit. Anyone? Anyone?

BYRD?!!?!?!! Sure that's not a misprint? Crap, that pisses me off, he's otherwise a stand up old dude. Well, nobody's perfect.

Even if you think gay marriage is a bad idea (though the arguments against it sound pretty idiotic from where I'm sitting) it's amazing that 48 senators would support using the Constitution to withhold rights from American citizens.

That's fucking genius. Absolutely great. I wonder how he got his Google ranking to be so high?
