apropos of nothing wrote:I got a pretty decent rough mix of Ninth and Hennepin done last night. Had the durnedest time with the panning. I think the thumb piano is still a touch too loud, and the vocal needs some frequencies shaved out, so I will pr'y do another mix and put it in place of this one, but I wanted to get this posted.

Feedback?
this is great! Three songs down! I love the whole phone message thing. good angle. the street sounds sound good too. I used to have a phone with that exact ring sound, it transported me back to my dorm room days.

If you eq the vocal make sure you boost the level some, I think the vocal needs to be a bit higher in the mix so you get the words a bit better.
but just a hair.

I hope to have mine done relatively soon. I've been swamped with work and sessions that I haven't had any real time to work on it.

I' just gotta add vocals, which I should be able to do this weekend. So I'm almost there, too.

I hear ya, but hey, you still need to post up I Want You (She's So Heavy)...

I'm ready to hear it! I'm also tempted to steal it from you... but I'll wait until I've finished my VU song. I think the Paper Plates (a band I'm in) would do a HEAVY version... We tried it once in practice, but that was when I played drums. Now we have a powerhouse of a drummer and I play guitar. Much heavier.

I might steal Mean Mr Mustard instead, who knows...

ok, no more message board for today, time to get to it!!!!!

wait, how many posts is that for me, whoo hooo! the big 2-0-0!

I'm pushin record now!

howdy.

So, Anywhere I Lay My Head. http://users.chariot.net.au/~goblin/mic ... d%20v4.mp3

I'm kinda Grrrrr about this. I dunno... I had trouble working this song into something I could do and then when I was happy with what I wanted to do I had all sorts of trouble recording. lah-la-lah doesn't matter.

later,
michael.

Cool. Really a stark sound. I have the sense that I need to listen again with headphones, which I will do in the AM.
With my Les paul, I know I'm small.

Alrighty. Done with "Time." It's at the bottom of the this link:

Phalex played the keyboards and the bass, and I did the other stuff. I mixed it in headphones though, so it might need some adjusting. But I mix almost everything this way, so I guess it's not all that different from normal. Boobs.

I'm starting tonight. Can't even remember how the tune goes so this'll be interesting. Obviously i'll dig it out and have a listen first. Really like the things i've heard so far, should be a good comp.

I like it, it's minimal and clear, but the feeling is there. Hard to think of a better way to do it. A difficult song to cover for sure, but you did a great job.

is that your chair making the sound at the end? There's some little pop sounds like edit points I heard in the middle

wow, really nice.

first you had me cryin' then you had me rockin'
then you brought me back to the verge of a tear right at the end.

well done.

the only adjusting needed according to my monitors/ears is in the low end area... it gets pretty heavy at times.

We need to start making the final list..
I guess I could go ahead and set one up.
