my girlfriend is a [long since] alum of lee's summit high school in missourri. she was saying that GW recently spoke there (why to high school students, i don't know) but it was made very clear that no students would be allowed into the stadium if they were wearing shirts displaying anti GW or pro Kerry sentiments. blah.

Re: Holeee Shit...
it could be argued that saying that Bush got his ass kicked in the debates isn't necessarily a statement of opinion. if you believe all the polls, both independent and sponsored, a healthy majority of them say that bush's clock got cleaned three times in a row....both on debate points and the truth-meter.LTA wrote:How's that for a look at an unbiased media employee? The second you start saying who is better or worse, winning or losing, you made an opinion. And once you state that opinion, you are no longer portraying yourself as unbiased.saasquatch wrote:If anything, during the debates the media was being as generous with Bush as possible being that he got his ass beat so bad.
i also agree with the idea that the 'so called liberal media' is a myth. look, for instance, at what happens during the sunday news shows and such - right-wing guests almost always outnumber leftist guests, etc....and i don't hear a whole lot of sympathy for the left on hardball, scarborough country, oreilly, etc...name one unabashedly leftwing talk show. go on and try.
and MM - if you scratch the surface just a little bit, you'll see that there are volumes of testimony and hard proof on the internet, readily available, that will debunk a great deal of the whole SBVFT myth. things like bullet holes in the hulls of boats that proved that they were taking on fire while the vets were saying no one was shooting at them, copies of incident reports, guys coming forth and saying, "why is my name on this list of swift boat vets when i never agreed to this at all?" type stuff.
i hate that i have to point you towards the internet to find this stuff, but none of our "so called liberal media" saw fit to put it out there.
don't drink the kool-aid, man. be willing to ask your own questions.

There really needs to be one to offset Fox. I would love to see an anti-Hannity, who had an hour-long show, 5 nights a week, primetime, on some network. I'd love that.name one unabashedly leftwing talk show. go on and try.
Re: Holeee Shit...
I have to disagree - in the 2000 campaign Gore was dogged by various unflattering punchlines - from "I invented the Internet" to "Naomi Wolf told me to wear earth tones to be the alpha male," that just weren't true.MASSIVE Mastering wrote:And I'm certainly not saying it's all biased - But when they can make a conservative look bad, they jump at it. When they can make a liberal look bad, they run from it.
To cite just a couple of examples.

what was funny was at a stop later in the campaign, bush said "if he invented the internet, then why does it start with 'dubya, dubya, dubya...'" i'm not quite sure what he was getting at.King Kong Kitchie Kitchie wrote:Gore was dogged by various unflattering punchlines - from "I invented the Internet"

You go in that team
I go on this team
Divide everything
A flag or a number
Make 'em opposites
So there's a reason
Stigmatisation
Ok now we can fight
Divide everything
Just put it all flat
Justification
Ok now you can fight

Do you really know the story behind this? To quote the Daily Howler (because I seriously doubt you'd actually take the time to read anything that might debunk these swift boat liars):MassiveMasering wrote:The media doesn't bring them in because they make Kerry (the guy held as a "hero" in the North Vietnamese War Museum) look bad.
The Daily Howler really is a good site. Their basic creed is that the press corps is doing a horrible job in being stewards of national discourse: liberals and conservatives alike.Their book has ten chapters, and chapter nine is devoted to Kerry-the-Commie. The title? ?Kerry?s Communist Honors.? The authors start with that same museum in Vietnam?the one Broder?s bus-mate was denouncing:
O?NEILL/CORSI (page 167): In the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum (formerly known as the War Crimes Museum) in Ho Chi Minh City, a photograph of John Kerry hangs in a room titled ?The World Supports Vietnam in its Resistance.? The photograph shows Senator John Kerry being greeted by the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Comrade Do Muoi. The story broke over the 2004 Memorial Day weekend. Jeffrey M. Epstein of the Vietnam Vets for the Truth acquired the photograph in response to a request for photographs and records detailing Kerry?s activities on behalf of the enemy.
?Kerry?s activities on behalf of the enemy?? In fact, that photograph was taken in 1993, when Kerry went to Vietnam as part of an official U.S. delegation pursuing the POW/MIA issue. After several pages of dime-novel clowning designed to make this visit sound like a mystery, O?Neill and Corsi even concede this. Kerry?s presence in Nam was ?reasonable.? But then they explain the Big Problem:
O?NEILL/CORSI (page 172): Thus, the existence of photographs showing Senator Kerry meeting with General Secretary Do Muoi is not in question. In the course of pursuing the POW and MIA issue, it is reasonable that Senator Kerry would seek to meet with leaders of Communist Vietnam. The critical issue here is that the Vietnamese Communists have chosen to honor Senator Kerry in their War Remnants Museum for his assistance in helping them achieve victory over the United States.
It isn?t wrong that Kerry was there. The problem turns out to be the way the Commies have chosen to caption that photo!
Re: Holeee Shit...
Personally it's hard to call those debates debates. John Kerry used less rhetoric and George Bush had not a fact upon his person.
