They are all the same regardless of of the party they run for. John Kerry is no better for America than George Bush. Infact, being a liberal, He is for even larger government, so that allusion to 1984 would hold just as true for a Kerry Administration. Having the government control health care is pretty scary. But that's not the point. I"m not trying to make people agree ideology on individual canidates, but politicians in the big picture. They are all self serving. Quite frankly anyone who would want to be president shouldn't be. I've heard so many people today talk about George Buch like he's some kind of monster, but the fact is, he's no worse than anyone we've had in office in recent time. Also they're a lot of fallacies floating around in criticisms of his administration. But again I diverge. Neither he nor Kerry would change anything that actually got down to the real issues in America. We need to look at why people are below poverty lines, we need to find out what in the market is driving up the price of healthcare, and why our Justice system is putting criminals back on the streets, and why our current welfare system is almost completely useless in accomplishing its goals. We need to learn that the federal government has only limiting problem solving abilities, aka throwing money at something. These are the real issues, things like stem cell research, abortion, and the war in Iraq, while important, are merely distracting the things that are most important. No they real issues are not easy to address, and no politician wants to address them. Honestly, I belive that George Bush is more likely to keep things from getting out of hand on a domestic level, and as far as the war is concerned, American foriegn policy is a double edged sword, as far as it is concerned no president can ever do anything right. End of Rant

Yeah that's right, an artist that is somewhat conservative. They do exist. I do not hate a President just because it may be fashionable to do so.
Nope. You're wrong.

If you're going to have an idealistic/socialistic philosophy you might as well do it in a country that's already practicing some form of democratic socialism (i.e. Canada) than trying to convert a bunch of gun-toting pickup driving, mesh cap wearing good ol' boys.
Aww, all they need's a little wuv.

It's hard to say if leaving is wrong. Lots of great people have fled harsh governments...

But If you do, I'd say Montreal is the place to be right now. It is the greatest.
There is an exciting feeling there, like it could be the centre of a movement.
You have to speak french to work, but not in your own studio.
You'd have to work under the table unless you've got a visa. You'd need a good way across the border with your gear (going to record at a studio is a good one). The financial investment to get in by starting a business is very small. About $75k USD, compared with $500k for a Canuck entering the USA. So if you wanted to start a medium indie studio, you could get in legally... or just marry a beautiful french girl.(10k could buy you the loveless kind)

My reaction is the opposite though, to go south and fight.

The only analogy I can come up with is this:

If 51% of your home is infested with termites, at what point do you decide to move out? Or tear it down? Either way, it becomes impossible to live in the other 49%.

I'm going to agree with about 90% of that. Don't any of you dare come to Canada, and if you do, get in line behind the thousands of those truly seeking an escape from an oppressive government or wars that rape their women and children and murder them in front of their family's.

I watched the election in kinda the same way I watch one of those popular sporting shows... like the Super Bowl. It's a distraction and nothing changes, whom ever wins.

None of us could deal with the type of change that would make this a kind, gentle world. Every comfort we enjoy, from the Coke you buy at the store to the clothes and cars you buy and the country you live in was made possible by the oppression of some poor soul beaten and bleeding. Everything.

I'm glad Kerry lost. Maybe things will get bad enough to promote real action and change in North American. Maybe freedom will get peeled back to a point where we will know what it's like to be raw from some one else's boot. Where were any of us during the Clinton years while 500000 Iraqi babies died due to UN sanctions? I was more then likely buying some gear, or a record i liked.

No one really wants change, we want to educate ourselves so we can gain a moral high from an argument and watch Michael Moore films, Rock Against Bush and pat ourselves on the back when "we" drive the evil GOP from power. Then enjoy a cold Coke without noticing the blood dripping from our glass.

Maybe we should all sell a little gear and donate it to a famine relief fund. We might not get that "warm" signal down on tape, but maybe a kid over "there" won't starve to death.

Or lets just strap ourselves in, enjoy the ride, and hope those damn gas prices come down.

Oh and if we do buy any records we like it should be the new Amerian Music Club. It's beautiful.

...and just so it's noted, I'm not talking about specific people, it's all of us. We have an interesting ability to live very contradicting, double standard, lives. We can recognize and condemn terrible "evil", but fail to see the evil we benefit from.

I've heard that they speak English in the Phillipines, plus they have friendly, beautiful asian girls -- a giant plus in my opinion. There's always Australia, too...

I am so relieved to hear some people as outraged as I am about those 2 Nazis being reelected. It angers me how dumb the American population really is. As I advance in age I have less and less faith in humanity. How could anyone with 1/2 an education vote to reelect those crooked bastards. I don't blame these people who are talking about leaving the country. It is a scary direction we are going in.....right wing, fanatical Christian, anti-abortion, belligerent and NRA loving, gay hating etc....
