Anyone here want to leave the country? (or lives in another)

Post by magritte » Tue Nov 02, 2004 11:32 pm

I want to get out of the states. This election really disenchanted me. I can't live here anymore. Looking for a roomate, or someone in like...sweden, who will let me stay for a while.
Thank you, Mario, but our princess is in another castle.

I hear ya. Quebec City is really beautiful. Decent jazz scene, too.

Shouldn't this be in OT?

Just got back from France and, contrary to the Big Lie being put out by our "leaders", it was beautiful. The people were completely hospitable, they seemed to have a much better understanding of Americans than most of my countrymen. Ms Cats is making me nuts wanting to relocate over there!

The only difficult moment was trying to explain Freedom Fries - Lord, we are a country of 13 year olds.

I truly, truly, am not represented by the politicians in the US. I have absolutely nothing in common with those fuckers, aside from needing air, water, and food.

George Bush, and the bush family in general, are insane and self serving. I am scared for the next four years. I will stay right here, and I will do anything I possibly can to affect change.

I know this will be tough given the current civil dictatorship we live under. SHIT, THIS SUCKS!!!!

I'm afraid that the only way that liberals will be able to affect change is to learn to hate homosexuals and abortion.
I really feel like the election was decided on those two issues.

It's a real shame when people will vote against their own financial interests, and their own safety interests because of biblical interests.

I'm not leaving either... the fight is here, to keep the U.S. from becoming the GOP Empire.

I know. I just read animal farm this week and it's scary how much of that book relates to the current state of this country.

That offer in Denmark sounds great.

PS. Joe Hamilton - It's easy to say you're going to stay and change what you can, but it's also easy to forget about it and go on with life - chances are, in a week everyone will be apathetic. Not making a judgement, just an observation there.

hey thanks for the offer. I'll have to look into the process of moving there. Any ideas how hard it is to do? Does an american have to be sponsored, etc..?

everyone is apathetic already... unless they're over 44.

18 - 29 turnout was about the same as 2000.
30 - 44 turnout was lower than 2000.

but, overall turnout was up!

younger people, who tend to oppose Bush, completely let this country and the world down by sitting at home with their god damn XBoxes instead of getting out and voting.

I hope I can get paid in cash for everything I do this year, so I can simply not contribute (taxes) anything to the current regime and their fucking crappy agenda.

That is all. I wont take up any more space on this message board with politics....
