Nauseous vs. nauseated.

Farther and further.

Y'uns and y'all.

"Baited" breath. ARGH BAITED?! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE SAYING?

Use of quote marks for emphasis, like the sign at the local Denny's: "GREAT" JOBS HERE!

Using "would of" rather than "would have."

And I've always wanted to say to someone, "actually, it's TENTERhooks" but somehow that's never come up.

Does verbal grammar count? I have a friend that says "Gunoo" when he means "Going to". "I'm gunoo go to that show".

With the Denny's thing, I think that's just truth in advertising. Whenever someone says they are offering a "GREAT" job, you gotta wonder.

affect/effect is one i see often.

lose/loose - hilarious!
America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.

ok first of all, your signature--"our's go to 11" OUR'S?? what's the apostrophe for?!?!?!?

YOU DIE!!! :ar15: Katapult

Anyway...

Then = At that time. "We were still in Las Vegas then."
Than = Used after a comparative adjective or adverb to introduce the second element or clause of an unequal comparison. "I won more money than you when we were in Las Vegas."

Affect - To have an influence on or effect a change in. "Inflation affects the buying power of the dollar."
Effect - Something brought about by a cause or agent; a result. "The beer i drank had an intoxicating effect."

You have a point.

In other-but-related news, there's a Hostess outlet here in town that used to have a sign on the side of the building that said WEDNESDAY "BARGIN" DAY. To save my sanity, I had to assume that the quote marks were meant to denote that they were aware that they spelled "bargain" wrong.

"I have noticed that..."
or
"I noticed that..."

either is perfectly acceptable. well, not in the context of your sentence... but... oh well, you already took care of the gunning-you-down duties, so i guess i'm off the hook...

;-)

y'all know this is totally a farcical thing, right? i've never actually harmed anyone for making grammar mistakes. well... that one grocery store manager for putting "10 items or less" instead of "10 items or fewer" on the express lane...

has anyone else actually read Infinite Jest? It's like 1100 pages, but totally worth it.

My fellows, I am pleased and gratified that someone of us has finally seen fit to stand up and take notice of all this unwarranted tomfoolery. Those who would play fast and loose with the printed word shall no longer do so with impunity! Together let us put a stop to such lamentable use of language. I propose that, if anyone of us shall come across such a repugnant grammatical construction, he shall stand up and shout, "Fie!" Only then shall the transgressing ignoramus know the true horror of what he has done.

My gentle people, let us not let this endeavor die softly; let us declare our purpose clearly and proudly whenever occasion shall arrive. Together, we shall be heeded.

I remain your true and humble servant,
Jajjguy Maurice Huckles Fountworthy
