What did you get for Christmas?
Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Massive, what kind? I think that's exciting.
I got myself a Soundcraft GB4 a few weeks ago
My family got me stuff for the kitchen and a bottle of scotch. Oh yeah, and a copy of Stephen Mitchell's new translation of Gilgamesh.

Nirvana box set,
John walker red,
the musicians friend brand tweed case for my guitar,
and the cheap lap steel
I didn't want that much so I just asked for cheap easy stuff and I got it all I'm doing this every year from now on.

Dude...I got the Nirvana set too. And an awesome pocketwatch...classy.
Also 4 different flavors of Tobasco! They make some steak sauces now. Some books, including a book by John Stewart and other Daily Show writers that reads like a high school textbook on the subject of America. It's funny. I wish My textbooks would have had that much swearing.

I got some more stuff last night, including the whole Rising Damp show on DVD, Revolution: The Making of the White Album and a really nice set of oils, so i guess i'll probably start painting again, it's been a while. Some more cash and vouchers and six - eight bottles of wine. Bonza!

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
--Salad Spinner
--Ibanez TS9 pedal (the new kind)
--Big Muff (russian kind)
The pedals came from family members. I gave them a list and I didn't want them to have to spend much cash. I think they're both great.
Funny story on the TS9. My mom, bless her heart, went to Guitar Center to purchase. She provided the "dude" my list (which was, completely assembled from threads/recommendations on this board). The guy said, "whoa... this is for a real musician." So thanks TapeOp for helping me continue my fradulent portrayel of a musician.

Salad Spinner would be a great name for a pedal. What would it do?comfortstarr wrote:--Salad Spinner

it would be a pedal that makes it sound like you're playing through a leslie cabnet.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
the salad spinner would be a ring modulator/rotary speaker simulator with three knobs (lettuce, dressing, and crank) that do nothing to the sound in a manner that one would expect them to. i'd buy one.

And there would be one extra pedal marked "Tosser" that would just make the whole thing go apeshit.

Half-life 2, the collectors edition (came with a half-life tee shirt).
A few books--
Succesful Lyric Writing, by Shiela Davis,
The Musician's Guide to Pro Tools, and
The Library of Guitar Classics (hopefully I'll be able to sightread some of this shit in a couple of years).
20 packs of guitar strings.
3 pairs of Levi's.
A quarter ounce of weed (I don't smoke).
