That's awesome - I have some "urban cumbia" with rapping/toasing on some compilation CDs around here - very cool stuff.
Where can I get some???!

I play drums and sing backing vocals in a power pop-ish band, and play second guitar in another band. I also play solo, and that stuff is a little mopier with more of an emphasis on weird chords.

I used to play guitar, viola, and drums in an improv group around town, and I've done a few dub songs just for fun.

currently playing (hopefully) fresh sounding rock music with a lady singing and writing the tunes.

left to my own devices i either make endless dubby/funk instrumentals with no chord changes or melody (sounds great doesn't it?) or simple 8th note indie rock guitar songs.

the ladys songs are way better than mine so i'm a happy pup.

I try to mix it up and mess around with different things but it's mostly spaced out poppy bullshit with the occasional uncalled for bratty blast of noise.

I've been doing some ambient/concrete/romantic stuff lately with a friend of mine.

I have performed with bands that played variously: synth-pop, improv techno, gothygothygothy, and prog-pop.

My fave thing to do is write scores for this or that cable-access project or remix acapellas by/for friends.

...some of which might adequately be termed "experimental". On

Cool, everyone seems to have different ideas and styles. I was wondering if it was mostly rock, judging from the MP3 section. But it doesn't seem to be that way. Lets get some more hip hop and electronic up on the Music section!!

With the other guys I make instrumental spacey rock ala Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky. But I'm working on some solo/2 piece death metal stuff and it's so much harder than I thought. I've always loved metal but never tried to play it. It's tough but fun, especially the drums.

My band, Other Faces, started in 2000 while most of us were still in high school and the subsequent five years have been spent growing up a bit and searching for new sounds. We started with a Cure-ish sound, then grew tired of that and made "post rock" instrumentals for a while and now we've settled into mid-sixties Beatles/Brian Wilson inspired experimental pop. I don't know where we'll go from here, maybe sounds from our shoegazer side-project will start filtering in. For now it seems we've found our niche though.

I have experiment i try with recording that could be a little musical. lately, my projects are:

Convergence - basically I arrange lines on midi with a pitch bender that are based on mathematic (not always serial) chords, then play the parts either on a violin or an ebowed guitar using the tuning pegs instead of the frets. or some other continuous instrument and let the chords slide into tune.

golden girls - this is basically practice recording a song in a day. the songs seem to be covers of 80 sitcom themes, the experiment is the recording techniques.

anyhow, when I listen to mogwai or polmo polpo, i get these ideas that lead to recordings, but not always successful songs.

Hey Zoltar, could you lay some Golden Girls recordings on us?
Pretty please?

Any MP3s? I'd like to hear some of that.

As long as it's interesting stuff, i don't necessarily think you need songs as such.

I hope this works:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/7/doodl ... 2music.htm

I also made a geocities page until I figure out web hosting, (for now). I don't think it will work, but the songs are on the other link anyhow.

I'm open to opinions, I don't like the fret buzz on the convergence song, so I tore the frets out of one of my guitar for next time.

im doing this:

www.myspace.com/birdshapedholes

its a band thats pretty loud. i play bass/vocals/a synth

i also make weird electronic music. currently progressing towards incorperating mulltiple guitars (weather or not they sound like guitars is another story) into a fucked up band format that can play live.
