Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
I think it's noteworthy because close to 50% of a group of Americans believed it.
Of course, that group is in New York, which is hardly representative of America as a whole. I'd like to see the results of a nationwide poll - I'm sure it will drop to barely-double digits.

Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
yea, that is true. sort of on the same line that new yorkers are WAY less concerned about terrorism than the rest of the country.
but, i would suppose that new yorkers pay more attention to the news about 9/11.. and therefore are more likely to believe that the govt had forewarning (factually correct, well reported in the news) and consiously didnt act (not factually established, but not a difficult leap - see "rebuilding america's defenses" and that section on "we need another pearl harbor")
however, i suspect that rather than a sort of news based conclusion, the consensus about the gov't knowing and not acting on purpose arose from some sort of word-of-mouth conspiracy theory.

exactly.King Kong Kitchie Kitchie wrote:I think it's noteworthy because close to 50% of a group of Americans believed it.
.
that was the reason for my post.
i mean, i know this is OLD information that we all know....
but the fact that HALF of newyorkers think it....
thats staggering, youd think they would cause riots or something
Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
New Yorkers, unlike the rest of the country, are not fanatics and don't riot about much.HALF of newyorkers think it....

Now, if the president were a democrat and had an affair with his secretary, THEN you'd see the shit hit the fan.....
Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
sorry i think i am missing something very basic here:
is it weird to think that the gov't knew that we were going to be attacked around 9/11 and didn't act on it?
should more people believe it or less?
this is what i dont get. i think 50% is totally normal...

Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
Actually, I'm pretty amazed and pissed off that people who fucked up so bady (Rice, Gonzalez, Rumsfeld and, for that matter, Bush) could get rewarded. My ass would be fired if I turned out to be half as incompetent as those dorks.

I think the Onion said it well with the headline about Bush winning the election: "Bush does victory lap around 9/11 site"

It wouldn't shock me if they had known about it, I mean wasn't that the case with Pearl Harbor?

B) More - if it's true, it would ideally be 100%, right?
What would you say if I told you 50% of people believed that the sun revolves around the Earth, or that 50% of people believed that soda has little nutritional value?
Re: 911 foreknowledge Zogby poll
ok, yea, i am with you. i thought that we were supposed to express shock that 50% of americans answering yes to that question was shockingly high.King Kong Kitchie Kitchie wrote:A) Yeseeldip wrote:is it weird to think that the gov't knew that we were going to be attacked around 9/11 and didn't act on it?
