How do you pronounce these words?

Post by YOUR KONG » Wed Feb 02, 2005 11:04 am

Reverb
Ambient
Mono

I recently heard "reverb" pronounced "reVERB," mono pronounced "Moan-o," and I pronounce the "am" in "ambient" as in "I am."

Words that I can't figure out:

1. Lead (as in lead guitar). Is a "lead guitar" something like a steel guitar, but with lead instead of steel? I've never seen one for sale. It seems like every good 70s band had one, if you look through allmusicguide you'll see.

2. Bass. Does it rhyme with "ass", the slang word for "booty"?

I've got a friend who consistently says "ruh-VERB" to intentionally mess with people. He just started working for John Storyk and I wonder if he's doing that there, too. I imagine not, since he hasn't been fired yet.

Here's one for DAW dudes.....

I believe the actual pronunciation for Nuendo is N-u-En-do. Cuz, I mean...get it?

Most everybody I know pronounces it New-end-o and that drives me insane.
