(1) I hope no one is suggesting that I would ever call anyone (or any group) a "bunch of fags." Never said it - Never will.

(2) Anyway, I was all for it when President Clinton brought it up. He repeadtedly called it "a serious fiscal crisis" and I was right with him on it. I remember all the BI-PARTISAN support when Clinton suggested private accounts during a SOTU speech in the mid 90's.

Then, he did nothing.

Anyway, I'm still for it. Either that, or let me opt-out. I don't need Uncle Sam telling me where to invest. I always thought it was a ridiculous idea, and I got special credit in HS consumer class when I said "well, won't (Social Security) go broke around 2010 or so with all the baby-boomers retiring?"

Of course, I was off by several years, but any first-year economics student could've figured this out in the 60's.

Oh wait - They DID figure this out in the 60's... And repeatedly, no one did anything about it. So once again, I'm all for reform (or just trashing the system).

Hopefully, he'll (Dubya) have the brass to actually do something about it this time.

It seems once the private sector gets involved, things start costing more money, and nobody is accountable. as much as taxes are higher than they should be, there is no limit to what these bastards will take from you.

we had a premere here in Ontario that messed up our healthcare system, education, and most of the roads. oh, and polution is on par with Texas now too. he deregulated all sorts of crap, and now it costs a lot of money for junky crap. Mike Harris is an asshole.

Then people started to threaten his family and his life, and he got out of politics. you see, you need to have accountability. Even though it isn't being said just yet, that is what this is about. At the present rate, the United States won't be a single country in 40 years.

Holy crap. That first sentence is exactly the opposite of how the world works, at least in the USA. Accountability arises from stake holders being close to decision makers. How does government bureaucratic control equal accountability?

If this guy you are talking about was a corrupt moron, than I imagine that he could deregulate in a crooked way.

I think people in the private sector are accountable to market forces, and that is a real kind of accountability.
