Louis Wain: way ahead of his time

Post by wing » Thu Feb 10, 2005 9:54 pm

Does anyone know about this artist that started off as a simple cat painter, but then turned schizo and started painting his cats really psychedelic? When looking at the paintings in his later years, you'd think they were done in the 60s and 70s... but nope, these were all done in the 1920s-30s. They're awesome.

That bottom right cat... that's a scary one alright.

Supposedly this is what things began to appear like out of his perception after he had turned crazy.

Oh yeah, even his 'normal' paintings are really great.
