Boom Operator ? Application Materials must be received by Wednesday, May 19th ? If called back, interviews will be conducted (in Tacoma) on May 26th & 27th from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
We are looking for applicants interested in the high-stress and hard-working field of audio for film and television production. The Boom Operator helps and directly reports to the Sound Mixer, and records production sound by handling a boom microphone during filming. Other responsibilities include the placement of other set microphones (if any) as well as general maintenance and care of all audio equipment. The Boom Operator needs to be driven, energetic, focused, and most importantly be in good physical condition to hold a boom for long periods of time. Prior audio technology experience or education is a must with production sound experience preferred. Knowledge of basic film lighting techniques, camera lens sizes and acceptance angles is also desirable but not required. Applicants should be prepared to work for 15-20 hours per week for no pay. Position is open primarily to students or emerging audio professionals that need more practical experience. Two meals a day and lodging (if necessary) will be provided during production. Internship credit and/or professional letters of recommendation will be available. Production is scheduled for June-July 2004. Questions may be addressed to 253-627-7774.
