bands i don't like- ones that i deem to be 'criminally derivative'- to the point where the band they are copying should sue them.
i mean, influence is influence- but ones who seem to directly cop someone's sound and style make me ill. its happening more and more these days.
one example out of many- the canadian band 'pilate', who are quite popular these days. i wonder if they ever heard radiohead's ok computer?

I'm sick to death of all of these bands that include these bullshit, auto-tuned and compressed to death, chipmunk-sounding vocals. I mean what the fuck is wrong these people? How can anyone think that that sounds good. It's even more awful when you have a group of supposedly "tough punk kids" dressed in all of the appropriate Hot Topic garb and the vocal sounds like some prepubesent rodent. So as far as groups that make me want to vomit ... um ... dare I say all bands on Empty V with a mean age of less than 24.

Ah! thanks. Ween are one of those bands that I've heard a couple of their songs and have been meaning to check out for years.

As for bands that make me want to vomit... Muse are a strong contender. I'm normally a very passive person, but when I read about the singer accidentally smashing his face up with his guitar on stage, I felt as if my prayers had been answered.

1. Any rock bands with DJs...no exceptions.

2. Bands who dress like they get their clothes from Armani and sing about their hard life.

3. Nu-Metal...which really isn't metal & isn't new, just mediocre rock.

4. Any band who claims to be "old skool"...enough already.

5. Any band who has "the next Radiohead" anywhere in their bio or in press.

There are at least 5 to 10 bands on MTV at any one time that fit into these 4 catagories...so it's your choice.

i'll second this. i was REALLY looking forward to hearing this after so many people i know were praising them. but Coheed and Cambria suck donkey balls.

The Rapture. worst singer ever. i've never heard someone sing so purposely out of tune. it disgusted me beyond all reason. saw them play live on some night show - maybe Leno?

The Darkness. please please please dont call that shit metal. it has its place. its fun, party rock. its NOT METAL. and it should NEVER be played in between bands at a metal concert. i went to see God Forbid, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, and Killswitch Engage. and between every damn band they played The Darkness. there should be a law.

There is a melody, the guys sings it, the production is fine. More benign than hateable.

a couple weeks ago my girl told me that i look like Andrew WK and that he's so cool and she loves him. and i said i didnt like Andrew WK and that i've seen him play live, i've heard his cds, i've seen him boo'd off the stage, and i've seen his interviews - i think his music sucks and that he acts like a total idiot all the time. so she insulted me directly and told me i'm just stuck up and uptight and at least Andrew WK knows how to have fun. so i bitched her out b/c that was uncalled for.

btw, everybody in the whole freakin world thinks i look just like every other guy on the planet with long black/brown hair and facial hair. including Jesus, Rob Zombie, Andrew WK, and Rick Ruben (thats an insult too! the man is awesome but he looks scary as hell).

I know they aren't a newer band, but if I just happened to be driving a dump truck and Dave Matthews Band all walked out into the street I would step on the gas so hard my foot would go through the floor board. Maybe I could get real lucky and Jack Johnson would be with them.
