The Time - "Tricky" - this was the B side to the 12" of I think "Ice Cream Castles" and it's just Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam playing a MONSTER groove while Morris Day talks some sh*t over it - "Tricky say yackety yack? Yackety yack my ass bubba!" - "You tossed salad hair doo'ed, leather wearin', bean pole lookin', funk inhabit formin,' fat, black!" "wait, wait. what time is it? Time for you to retire - you overweight!"
Priceless.
I always thought that "Ice Cream Castle" sounded like some revolting sexual act.
That is all.

Whats a finkadelic? By funkadelic.
Cardova by the meters.
Kashmir by Led Zepplin.
Pride and vanity by The Ohio players.
Anything by Cymande.
Moby Dick by Led Zepplin
Lots of Average white band stuff has heavy, heavy grooves with stupidly tight horns.
I think Mandrill may win for all time nastiest grooves. The record "composite truth" and the record "just outside of town" are some of the illest....

That song is a pop monster. Was it released as a single in the UK?

Discussion:
Grooves aren't race based. They can even be programmed for machines to play.
This song is just plain cheesy, in my no-more-valid-but-cogent opinion.

For shame each and every one of you! Either no one has heard or you all had collective brain fart when leaving out
Doves:
The Cedar Room
Now that is only the introduction to the song and I can't find a better version for you to listen to (literally I'm at work and blocked from finding a better source) but do yourself a favour and listen to this song. Scratch that, listen to this album!

Express Yourself, Charles Wright for funky groove.
Honky Tonk Women, Rolling Stones for more of a rocking groove.

The only true great mic on this planet is the Shure SM-57. It is the most consistant in not totally sucking of anything ever built. All other mics are "application dependant".
