So the wife and I just set up our new living room, and these old, big box speakers are just way too bulky and 1978-looking. I need some small, compact speakers for the components (receiver/cd/dvd/phono), but I have no desire for surround right now (am I the only one who thinks it sucks?).
Anyways, has anyone recently bought a pair of bookshelf sized speakers for a reasonable (2-300$) price that they absolutely love?

Re: Home Stereo Speakers?
Just helped my brother pick out a pretty nice pair of Boston Acoustics 2 ways for about $260. Got em on Amazon, but they shipped right from Boston. They're nice sounding speakers for the price. Tannoy Proto-J's are a pretty good deal at $200 a pair too...

Wharfedale Diamond 8.2's (originals or passive "Pro" series).
Under $300 on the street for a pair, and some of the best sound you'll hear at twice the price.
