Wow, that's a big one. I think about how different the world would be without 'Rocket 88,' Howlin Wolf, Johnny Cash, and yes, even Elvis.

Rock and Roll is over 50 years old now, and the first generation of Rockers are in their 70's. With all that's changed, I don't know if we have anything today quite as exciting as those early Sun Records.

I went to Sun Studios once. I met a guy from the Grifters working in the gift shop upstairs.

I read somewhere in an old 1970's book on country music that Sam recorded all of the early Sun stuff on a consumer-grade reel to reel tape deck that only ran at 7.5 ips, and that was partly responsible for the studio's "sound." Does anyone know anything more about this?

Trash 180--you're in Lansing? I grew up there. How's the local music scene doing? It was pretty nonexistent when I was there.
